In this thesis, I examine Elli Hemberg's experimental loyalty, focusing on the transition from two-dimensionality to three-dimensionality. A central concept is cross-boundary, that is, when the artist crosses dividing lines, opens up new passages and transitions, and follows the movement and the rhythm. There are many dimensions in Elli Hemberg's art both regarding the actual performance and the material. I will thus focus on the transformation process in Hemberg’s creation, and the metamorphoses that arise. I will also examine Elli Hemberg's gender position in art in order to determine if she really was marginalized, or what other circumstances and factors that may have contributed to the anonymity surrounding the artist in question. In this thesis, I examine Elli Hemberg's experimental loyalty, focusing on the transition from two-dimensionality to three-dimensionality.
