Man låner da ikke nåle I Herning
You just don´t borrow a needle in Herning
Commission for a new activitypark in a minor Danish town, reknown for its textile industry boom. Artist Kerstin Bergendal maps divers aspects of this textile adventure through a series of public dialogues. Quotes from these dialogues, are subsequently milled into the tiling of the new park.

Description of project
ONGOING: Using durational strategies for deep mapping, Kerstin Bergendal publically enquires after the lived experiences of the short, but extremely intens textile boom of the small city of Ikast, in Denmark. She extracts quotes/ fragments from these dialogues, which subsequently are to be milled down into the tiling of a new public activity-park Ikast. Added in a subtle, almost invisible way, the quotes will appear as different voices, expressing a variety of viewpoints on and positions from within this historic period. Each voice will also counter-balance a proposed identity of the park, as an exclusive leisure area for privileged classes.
Type of work
Commission, public artwork, developed through and based on a durational deep mapping process.
ONGOING realization, initiated in November 2017. Will be open to the public in August 2018
