Abstract: Studiens syfte var att undersöka gymnasielärares kunskap om och inställning till stamning samt lärarnas uppfattning om antalet elever som stammar. Description: The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge of and attitudes towards stuttering among upper secondary school teachers and obtain their estimation of the prevalence of stuttering among their students. Knowledge about and attitudes towards stuttering was compared between 102 teachers and 20 people who stutters. The result of the study shows that teachers have little knowledge about stuttering, in particular about the etiology of stuttering. The attitude toward stuttering among teachers is quite similar to the attitude held by people who stutter. A slight majority of the teachers stated that they have never had a student who stutters. The study implicates that teachers may be unaware of the fact that their students stutter, that there is opposing attitudes to whether a teacher should take into consideration that a student stutters when planning hence a conclusion is that teachers knowledge about stuttering needs to be improved.
