dc.description.abstract | The goal to this study is to find a way to create clothes in a slojd - and craft context, and to connect it
to history, present and the future. In cause of the negative impact the textile industry has on the
environment it is hard not talk about create clothes with out this in consideration. Data for this study
where gathered by a practice research of creating clothes inspired of someone else's slojdprocess. The
method that was used in the study was auto ethnology and write as reflection. This to enable
observation and reflection over the own making and recognise small details that before have not been
of importance. The survey is conducted and inspired by Nordström, Karlsson and Roslund Svensson
and their different ways of working and investigating in their own technology and materials. Inspired
from the material and the selected slojprocess guidelines were determined. Two different kind of
garment were created, one from an old wedding dress and the other, a jacket, was made from new
woven fabric. The results show that making garments inspired by someone else`s slojdprocess can
give a bigger focus in the crafting. One way to be inspired of other slojdprocess is to find guidelines
and create clothes accordingly. Choose fabric regarding these guidelines and then follow them thru the
process. This will result in many question, but in the same time a bigger focus in the crafting because
every step of the process is very important. Nordström, Karlsson and Roslund Svensson did all find
inspiration in some kind of recycling, Nordström through the material, Karlsson in form of inspiration
of an old door and Roslund Svensson in a solid form, more specifically an old branch. The respect and
reverence for the old object, its story and the craft is a connection to the history. Just a few generations
back clothes where repaired and remake a case they where broken or torn. The research has shown that
if clothes were created in a similar way as in this study, it would be an increase for the environment. | sv |
