Is Försäkringskassan, one of Sweden’s largest organizations, an equal place to work in? Do sex, ethnical background or age matter when being treated by colleagues and managers? In this thesis I try to, through interviews with both the Human Resources-departement and some administrators at Försäkringskassan, find the answers to how the organization’s internal work regarding equality functions. To help me with the analysis I use both discourse theory and gender theory. I find a discrepancy between the Human Resources-department’s and the administrators’ view of how the internal equality work is run. The administrators points at a heavy work load as a strong contributing element for not having the time to discuss questions related to equal treatment. Few of them have read the equal opportunities plan. The plan gets lost in the rest of all the information coming ”from above”. However, everyone being interviewed agree that Försäkringskassan is a very equal place to work at.sv
