dc.description.abstractThere are several objects of age whose provenance and history has disappeared with time. The purpose of this thesis is to find out which analyzing methods that gives results and how the different methods can be combined and /or established in each other. The investigations centers around an embroidery, belonging to Tämta church, with unknown origin, use and age. The embroidery is long and narrow with applications in the form of dragons and eagles on a ground of velvet cloth. The dragons and eagles are covered with metal threads. The upper end has a rough edge and the lower one is rounded. Between applications is a flower stem, sewn directly onto the velvet. Flowers and stiletto-shaped leaves are applied in connection with the stem. The scientific studies resulted in the detection of dyes, alloys and manufacturing processes could be detected, which could then be anchored by a literature review. The literature reviews showed that certain techniques, colors and shapes have been used with varying frequency, at different times and studios. The theoretical material and comparative studies, in combination with microscopy, found that the identified material has been used for a long time. The aim of this paper was to find out as much information as possible about the embroidery from Tämta, and describe the methods of analyzes that produced a result. Following the Art Technological Source Research (ATSR) it was important to abide all incoming researches and results.sv
