The aim of the study was to investigate how a significant other of three persons with Parkinson’s disease experienced the communication in conversation. A structured interview and analysis of a video recorded conversation was performed. The questions in the interview were aimed at mapping the significant others’ experience of communicative problems, their frequency, degree and conversation strategies used by a significant other in conversation. The result showed that the significant others’ experienced problems in communication related to the disease in several different areas for two of three participants with Parkinson’s disease. The result also showed problems with articulation and prosody for all participants with Parkinson’s disease. Also a change in the person with Parkinson’s communication style and number of conversation partners was notable. The frequency and degree of a problem had an impact on the use of strategies.sv
