This essay highlights some aspects of the future of literature: product placement in literature (with the example The Bvlgari Connection) and increased protection of literature (trademarks and a wider scope of copyright). There is a conflict between intellectual property, and thus economic incentives on one side and artistic freedom and freedom of speech on the other. A societal as well as a commercial perspective is used throughout the essay. Literature is closely linked to more commercial products, such as film and music. In essence, this development leads to that literature becomes a product.swe
