Other description: Background Our main goal in the clinic is to offer rehabilitation for individuals with hearing losses. The outcome of audiological rehabilitation shall be evaluated in line with the HSL (Swedish health law 2008:3). It is most important to evaluate the results of the audiological rehabilitation for the individual as well as to make sure to reach the goals of HSL. Aim The aim of this study was to try to investigate the audiologists’ opinions end experiences how to evaluate audiological rehabilitation. The aim with the focus group interview was to collect increased knowledge regarding questions, answers and observations audiologists consider when evaluating audiological rehabilitation. Method/material Qualitative method with focus group interviews for collecting data took place at the clinic in Linköping during 2008. Data was analysed with influences from template analysis (TA). The seven participants in the interwiev were all experienced audiologists and had been working with audiological rehabilitation between three and thirty-eight years. Result Analysing the recorded and transcribed material from the two focus group interviews show a number of themes that the audiologists discussed. These themes were: Practical controls, sound quality controls, social questions, quality of life, successful rehabilitation, nor god nor bad rehabilitation, less successful rehabilitation, satisfaction and the individual perspective. Conclusion The audiologists approximately ask the same questions to their patients. They emphasise the importance of the individual perspective when evaluating audiological rehabilitation without focusing on how many hours per day patients use their hearing aids. Audiological rehabilitation is a complex process and it is most important to consider the individual perspective when evaluating the result.
